Mission 2: The MyData Task Force report is out now!
The Cities Coalition for Digital Rights' Mission 2 "Providing proactive digital services that meet residents' needs" has released its final report on the MyData Task Force.
This document is the result of a series of six online workshops focused on helping cities navigate consent-based personal data sharing. During these workshops, led and coordinated by the city of Helsinki throughout the year 2024, 55 participants from 11 countries with legal, technological, and governance backgrounds came together to share knowledge, best practices, and address challenges cities face when adopting consent-based services.
What are consent-based data services?
The term "consent-based" refers to an approach giving individuals explicit permission before their personal data is collected, shared, or used. The growing demand for data transparency has made the consent-based approach more relevant than ever. Grounded in human-centric data management principles, such as self-sovereignty and the MyData movement, the consent-based philosophy allows individual citizens to take center stage in managing and sharing their data, and also pushes cities to adapt their services to meet these evolving expectations.
Throughout the project, the goal was not only to discuss theoretical frameworks but also to develop practical, actionable guidance for cities. Now, with the collective expertise and experiences shared, this report offers insights to cities around the world as they explore consent-based, human-centric services.
