What’s in it for cities?

The goal of this taskforce is to delve into key topics related to consent-based personal data sharing and use. We'll cover the legal, contractual, and business aspects of city data intermediation services—such as how to give and revoke consent and share data in a trusted manner. Additionally, we'll discuss city practices and use cases for consent-based services, along with consent and trust management systems for personal data in cities.

Interested cities are encouraged to join our online meetings and workshops, where we'll explore these topics. Participating cities will not only gain a deeper understanding but also have the opportunity to share their experiences in consent-based personal data-driven service development.

How will the taskforce work?

Taskforce meetings (lasting 1,5 – 2 hours each) will be organised online approximately once a month. Cities can suggest speakers and their own cases to be presented in the meetings. The first taskforce meeting will be dedicated to validating the topics to be worked on in the following meetings.

The sessions will be moderated by the City of Helsinki and our partner Futurice, and joined also by experts from other networks and organizations to deepen our understanding of the topic.

What outcomes can we expect from the taskforce's efforts?

In addition to sharing practices, the taskforce will result into an output of lessons learnt – what’s needed for consent-based data-driven service development in cities. The form of the output (report, handbook or similar) will be decided during the process.
