City of Curitiba

Curitiba is one of the most innovative cities in Latin America, being awarded for innovation in digital services by leading institutes such as Latam SmartCity Congress 2021 and Intelligent Community Forum TOP7 2021.

Its main application is the Curitiba App, which concentrates more than 700 digital services, in addition to the integration with other applications in the city such as SaúdeJá (HealthNow) and Curitiba156. On the app, citizens can also access news, payment of taxes, secure autentication, transport, public Wi-Fi, traffic data, education, sport, leisure, events, courses, books and much more.

One of the main digital inclusion services is Wi-Fi Curitiba, which has more than 240 points in the city spread around terminals, squares, parks and selected public spaces.

Regarding privacy, data protection and security, Curitiba has already implemented the new General Data Protection Law (LGPD) in Brazil, which guarantees data protection for every citizen. More secure databases have been implemented and the people who manipulate the municipality's bases have been trained, implementing new security tools like blockchain.

Curitiba has created an Open Data Committee for the municipality, composed of the municipality's Secretariats of Innovation, Administration and Technology, Federal Universities of Paraná, the Third Sector and Startups that use the portal. The Open Data portal brings together several data sets from 20 municipal departments in different formats and subjects and has a continuous schedule of improvement to the portal and the adaptations to the laws.

With Fala Curitiba, public consultation program of Curitiba City Hall, each citizen can choose his priorities separated by region. Thus, the citizen is the one who decides the 100 priorities that the City of Curitiba will include in the Annual Budget Law in the following year.

Last but not least, Curitiba has the Municipal Council of Science, Technology and Innovation, which is responsible for guiding and presenting proposals, strategies and policies related to the city's innovation ecosystem, aiming to expanding the dynamics of innovative entrepreneurship and socioeconomic development in Curitiba.
